PortsCenter Episode 5: Darkwing Duck (NES)

Wait a minute, that’s not a port!

Oh well, beggars can’t be choosers. Er… I mean… YES how interesting that is Ben.

In this week’s episode of PortsCenter, Ben examines Darkwing Duck for the NES. As he explains in the episode, Darkwing Duck is actually kind of, sort of the seventh Mega Man game for the NES. No really, hear him out.

Capcom used to love Mega Man so much they’d use their TV licensed games as an excuse to put out more Mega Man games. Oh, how times have changed.

Several key players in the development of the Mega Man games worked on Darkwing Duck, and Capcom used a modified version of the Mega Man 5 code to build it.

Oh, and it also got a GameBoy version that Ben glosses over (and a terrible TurboGraphx-16 game that isn’t mentioned in this episode because it has nothing to do with Capcom, Mega Man, or anything remotely resembling fun).

Some pretty interesting stuff, really.
