Here are the US Wii U Launch Titles

Ah, console launch titles. Three games you want, a handfull of half-assed ports, and the promise of things to come.

I remember that at the Wii’s launch, Red Steel and Excite Truck were in the top three choices to take home at midnight, just behind Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Good thing Wii Sports worked out for them.

But weak launch lists aren’t uncommon. Hell, the Nintendo 64 only launched with Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64. I’m not trying to be snarky here. The system literally launched with only two games in the US.

It seems like everything is “Launch Window” these days instead of getting a firm release date, but thankfully Nintendo have gone ahead and announced which specific games (from the previously posted list) will be available on store shelves when the Wii U launches in the US November 18.

Here’s the list:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  • Skylanders Giants
  • Transformers Prime
  • Wipeout 3
  • Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
  • FIFA 13
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition
  • New Super Mario Bros. U
  • Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge
  • Nintendo Land
  • SiNG PARTY
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
  • Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper
  • Darksiders II
  • Assassin’s Creed III
  • ESPN Sports Connection
  • Just Dance 4
  • Rabbids Land
  • Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013
  • ZombiU
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited
  • Game Party Champions
  • Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition

So, 23 games in total at launch. Not bad really. The only exclusives that really stand out to me are New Super Mario Bros U and ZombiU (and to a lesser extent, Nintendo Land), but it’s nice to see solid third part support at launch.

So, for anyone thinking of grabbing a Wii U at midnight, what catches your eye from this list?
