Pure Pwnage is Making a Movie
In the long lost age of 2004, an internet TV show emerged from the frozen wastes of Canada (or maybe it was Toronto. I get those two confused sometimes).
Pure Pwnage was one of the early success stories of internet video, and is still one of the best depictions of competitive gaming, or really any sort of gamer culture in general (suck it, The Guild). If you haven’t ever watched it, the original 18 internet episodes are still up, and free, on their website.
If you’ve ever heard someone in an online game yell out “Boom! Headshot!” after a kill, this is where that comes from (even if the person saying it doesn’t know that.)
After filming a season for Canadian television, and a little bit of time off, the show’s creators want to go back to the style of the original internet series and make a Pure Pwnage movie.
They’re raising money right now over at indiegogo, and considering they’ve raised over $38,000 in the first day (as of this post going live), they are well on their way. The fundraising campaign runs for the next two months, so look for the film to go into production sometime next year.
I love this series, and I’m glad to see the characters making a comeback. So throw them a few bucks (or at least help spread the word) and help Pure Pwnage make “The definitive, best ever, ever gamer movie.”
And if you need a little more encouragement, here’s their pitch video:

The universe isn’t ready for this movie.
