WiiU Out November 18, $300 and $350 Bundles at Launch

Here’s what you need to know about the WiiU’s launch:

  • Releasing November 18 in the US, December 8 in Japan, and November 30 in Europe
  • There are two bundles launching on those dates, a basic set at $300 and a deluxe set at $350
  • The standard price for WiiU games will be $59.99 in the US
  • The Pro controller (aka, the one that looks like a cross between Sony and Microsoft’s gamepads) will be available, albeit a separate purchase, on launch day for $49.99
  • The basic bundle will feature a white console, the tablet gamepad thingy, and 8GB of internal storage
  • The deluxe bundle will feature a black console and gamepad, 32GB of internal storage, and a copy of NintendoLand
  • Both bundles will ship with an HDMI cable
  • The gamepad charges off its own AC charger, not off the system via USB
  • Nintendo published games will be available both retail and digital (unless they need a certain accessory)
  • Nintendo TVii is some sort of media manager pass through kind of thing, works with “all” US and Canadian cable companies, and is exclusive to North America for the time being
  • No price has been given for the European launch, but various retailers have listings around the £250 and £300 range for the UK. The Japanese prices for the bundles are 26,250 and 31,500 yen for the respective bundles, so a little work with a currency converter and you can get close.
  • The WiiU will work with almost all Wii games. Not sure if this means emulation, or an accessory computability issue.
And just as important, here the announced list of “launch window” games:

Oh, and “launch window” now means “by the end of March”, so don’t plan on seeing most of these at the midnight launch. I’ll take some time to look over all of this before posting my thoughts on the whole mess, but is there anything you want to know about the WiiU that I missed?

Adushan Says:

Waaait a sec, Bayonetta 2 a Wii U exclusive? WTF? I love Bayonetta so now i gotta get a new console?

ouched Says:

@Adushan: Would you prefer the game not be made? That’s the impression I’m under, with the trouble Sega has put itself in, and Bayonetta not being really considered a commercially successful title.
