Dishonored, Doom 3 BFG Playable at Quakecon

Gamers wanting to get an early look Dishonored or the new content in Doom 3: BFG Edition might want to head to Dallas, TX August 2-5. Both games will be playable by the public at Quakcon 2012.

I already covered Doom 3: BFG Edition a bit, but I’m not sure if we mentioned Dishonored. It’s the upcoming stealth-action game from Arkane Studios, developers of Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah: Might and Magic. They were also the subject of an excellent feature over at Polygon a few weeks ago. (No really, go read that article if you haven’t yet.)

Other cool stuff planned for the con includes John Carmack’s annual keynote, various cash-prize Quake Live tournaments, and a number of panels, including topics like:

• The Game of Making Games
• Designing Multiplayer Games That Last
• GameTrailers ‘Bonus Round’
• Idle Thumbs Podcast Live: Arena

Oh, and one of the best large scale LAN parties still going.

I’ll be headed down for the weekend, so look for updates on the afore mentioned games, the state of the PC gaming community, and the latest in keg-stand technology high-end PC gaming hardware.
