The Michael Rohan Memorial Fund Charity Bundle

Sometimes even the gaming community isn’t all fun and games. Over at Silver Gryphon Games, a Pen & Paper RPG and Wargame publisher based in Iowa, Co-Founder and Content Director Kevin Rohan recently lost his six-year-old son in a drowning accident at a local water park.

The accident happened just under a month ago and very little has been mentioned by Rohan himself until a few days ago when he posted on the Silver Gryphon website. He briefly mentioned the accident and went into more detail about the Michael Rohan Memorial Fund, set up in Rohan’s son’s honor.

Rohan, while understandably devastated by his loss, is trying to turn his family’s tragedy into a blessing for others. With the help of other publishers in the gaming community, Silver Gryphon Games has put together a charity bundle to benefit the fund set up by Michael Rohan’s family. 100% of the proceeds from the bundle are going to the fund.

“The fund is going to help train lifeguards, help families pay for swimming lessons, help provide CPR training, and help with grief counseling locally, but if we can get enough money in it, we have some big plans to expand that out of our immediate vicinity,” Rohan posted on July 4.

The bundle is a set price of $12 USD and contains more than $275 USD worth of downloadable product. More publishers are adding more content “literally every day,” and those who buy the bundle before new product gets added need not worry because they’ll be able to download the new material at no extra cost.

As of this article, the bundle contains up to almost 90 individual products spanning many different game systems and settings and includes everything from rule sets, maps and floor plans, monster stats, racial traits, campaign books, printable miniatures, soundtracks, and more. You can see the full list at DriveThru RPG’s site.

No word on when this bundle offer will end, but it “won’t be around forever,” says Rohan.

If you’re a P&P RPG fan or tabletop gamer, or if you just want to help a grieving family move on and give back to their community by helping prevent a similar tragedy happening to others, you need to check out this bundle.
