Revolution Software Teams Up With Watchmen Co-Creator
Veteran adventure game developer Charles Cecil – who brought us the critically-acclaimed Broken Sword series of games, as well as the recent Doctor Who adventure games – has teamed up with Watchmen comic artist Dave Gibbons on a brand new, as-yet-unnamed IP.
Reported by Eurogamer, Revolution Software is remaining very tight-lipped about the project, stating only that the style “will look like a Dave Gibbons game”, with a “strong graphic identity”.
This is not the first time the two have collaborated. Gibbons was involved in Revolution Software’s 1994 sci-fi point-and-click adventure Beneath a Steel Sky (which is legally free to download and play, so DO IT), and updated some of the in-game art as well as drew an in-game unlockable spin-off comic for the director’s cut of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.
Gibbons has stated that he’s been involved “from the ground up” – having an impact on not only the game’s aesthetic, but also on its story. The project is currently in its infancy, as both men are working on separate projects, and nothing else – including estimated release dates and platforms – has been announced.
