Nintendo Now Co-Owns the Fatal Frame Series
I guess Nintendo finally got tired of people saying they rely too much on old IP. Their solution? Buy the Fatal Frame series.
Well, a big chunk of it anyway. Rely on Horror is reporting that Nintendo now co-owns the Project Zero/Fatal Frame series, and completely owns its spin-off, Spirit Camera.
Nintendo had already published the last few releases in the series, even though they were kind of dicks about it, and didn’t release them in the US. This isn’t exactly earth-shattering news, but it does suggest the series will have a continued presence on the 3DS and, eventually, the Wii U.
The camera based gameplay mechanics of the series do lend themselves really well to a second screen, at least in theory, so hopefully this brings some good horror games to Nintendo’s systems over the next few years.
That, or we’ll just end up with a creepy Japanese kid who hits people with a camera in the next Smash Bros. game.
The next entry in the series, Project Zero 2, is set to release in Europe and Japan next week, with no US release date yet announced.
