Valve Rumored to be Making New Console
There haven’t been any official announcements yet, but rumor has it that Valve is working on a new console dubbed – at least for now – the “Steam Box.”
The specs of the new Steam Box are said to include a Core i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU, and 8GB of RAM and will be updated every three to four years.
Apparently, developers won’t be charged any fees to develop games for Steam Box, either, unlike for other consoles.
There are many speculations as to new innovations the Steam Box may include as well, particularly involving a patent filed by Valve last year on a design for a configurable controller. Such a controller could make it easy to switch out parts for different games or types of games.
While this is all just rumor right now, they’re pretty exciting rumors – except for the part where I’ll have to buy another new console when it comes out.
A serious first-world problem, I know.

I doubt there will be an i7, partly because the costs would be too high and with game tweaks and all that would be kinda unnecessary. But still this is a good thing if it is real… and what would be even better if half life 3 was on it preloaded.
However much I’d like this to be true I doubt it, they’d be segmenting their market. It sounds like a PC with a Valve OS and then what happens to my actual PC? Would they eventually drop support for Windows? It would be nice to leave Windows behind and just have Valve software but then what happens to my games for Windows? So many questions!
