GameStop Pulling Out of Northern Ireland, Effective Immediately

According to TheGamingLiberty, as of Sunday, January 22, GameStop has ceased trading in Northern Ireland, effective immediately.
The game retailer is telling consumers that they will be “transferring all [...] UK business on-line to [their website],” and that they “will honour all outstanding deposits and gift cards on [their website].” They also list an email address for further questions: help@gamestop.co.uk.
Management of Northern Ireland GameStops allegedly signed non-disclosure agreements stating that they would keep this sudden set of closures to themselves until the company makes an official statement. However, many former employees have confirmed the closures on both Facebook and Twitter.
As of this publication, GameStop has not yet stated why they have decided to pull out of Northern Ireland, but it’s apparent this won’t be a happy ending.
How’s that for a double entendre ? ;)

Pulling out is no way to guarentee you won’t get pregnant, GameStop!
This doesn’t bode well for the state of retail in Northern Ireland, although I’m sure Grainger, Game, and HMV are counting their blessings at have one less competitor in a relatively crowded market.
They are probably having a corporate hissy fit. Maybe they raised taxes a .0001%, maybe they decided you cant do some shady business practice gamestop likes.
Literally “taking their ball and going home”?
Very disappointing news. Game are effectively the only choice left in Belfast city centre (HMV has its share admittedly), though recent financial news has put both on shaky ground.
