Abobo’s Big Adventure is Better than Whatever You’re Playing Right Now
Whatever you are doing right now, stop it and go play Abobo’s Big Adventure.
Abobo is, as its creators put it, “The *ultimate* tribute to the Nintendo Entertainment System.” Abobo’s son, Aboboy, has been kidnapped and it’s your job to help Abobo get him back. Your journey takes you through the worlds, and gameplay mechanics, of some of the all-time classic NES games like Double Dragon, Mega Man, The Legend of Zelda, and more.
Abobo dates all the way back to a project started in 2002, but really revitalized in 2006. After numerous side tracks for other games its creators came up with, Abobo is finally here for the world to see.
Pushing Flash about as far as it can go, Abobo will have you revisiting, and killing, many of your favorite characters from the 8-bit era. Don’t think it’s just a bunch of sprites thrown together haphazardly, though. Abobo controls as good as, if not better than the original games it pays tribute to.
This game is so good that this post was supposed to go up Thursday evening, but I was so distracted playing that I didn’t finish typing it up until 3:09 a.m. Friday morning.
The game is free to play, but generous gamers who make a donation to the game’s creators will get a second game, Aboboy’s Small Adventure available for PC and Mac, as a token of gratitude. More Abobo!
And not to take attention away from a great game, but this really should be Exhibit A if you are trying to convince someone why they should oppose SOPA.

The nicest thing I can say is that I’m not a fan of the controls. But I see what they did here and it’s admirable.
