The Guy Who Markets the Avenger Controller is a Dickbag
That may be the most appropriate title I’ve seen on a blog post in a long time.
One of the customers for the upcoming Avenger Controller, a set of switches and crap that snap on to a regular controller for… reasons, wasn’t happy with the slow response he was getting from the company. After all, preorders had to be paid in full and the product had missed its promised December release date, thus kind of ruining plans for people giving them as Christmas gifts.
Paul Christoforo of Ocean Marketing, the group in charge of marketing said controller, responded. At first he was half-assed and vague. Later, after actually kind of answering the customer’s questions, he was an outright douche.
You just got told bitch … welcome to the real internet check kotaku in 2 weeks when they are reviewing free PS3 Avengers we send them as well as G4 and all the other majors hell yeah , don’t forget to check Amazon, gamestop.com, play n trade , Myers , Frys and a ton of other local stores coming your way you think you speak for billions son your just a kid you speak for yourself no one cares what you think that’s why were growing and moving 20-50 thousand controllers a month. We do value our customers but sometimes we get children like you we just have to put you in the corner with your im stupid hat on. See you at CES , E3 , Pax East ….? Oh wait you have to ask mom and pa dukes your not an industry professional and you have no money on snap you just got told.
I guess that fits in with their policies regarding customers, as listed on their tumblr page.
…we believe in the power of great relationships, founded on honor, accountability and being responsible – and we value being there for people and their business — when it matters most
Funny thing is, as this poor guy was forwarding this email chain around to media outlets (send it to us next time!) the mention of PAX East at the end caught the eye of one Mike Krqahulik, aka Gabe from Penny Arcade. He responded:
I am mike krahulik, Pax is my show. Feel free to google me=) I can promise you that you will never have space at any future Pax event.
Christoforo responded with several long, rambling run-on sentences that suggested that he is the single most important man in both Boston, MA and the videogame industry, then suggested Krahulik was gay. Classy.
Feel free to read the whole thing, it really is amazing.
If you are so inclined:

That title is not misleading. Huh.
Dang.. I hope the customer gets everything resolved after this. I’d say he deserves at least his refund, plus a free product (if or when available) for all the BS.
My concern at this point in time is that he won’t get anything but more and more promises.
Wow…..whatever happened to ‘The customer is always right?’
And that is some use of the English language. Can we start a global campaign called ‘We’re not were’?

even the BBB has made a voice
That device is one ugly looking piece of shit. It better massage my hands and make me god-like at the video games to even consider using it.
not spamming and not hoping for free advertising, but for those of you unfamiliar with the avenger I did a review when I first received the accessory.

Am I right in saying that this monstrosity gives you an *ahem unfair ahem* advantage when playing FPSs?
But regardless of the product, consumer interaction is key to sales and this is unacceptable behaviour.
