Bioware in SW:TOR Beta Email Balls-up
Bioware, in what might be the greatest troll of all time, mistakenly sent out a series of emails this morning to an unknown (but apparently quite large) number of members who had applied for the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta, implying that they had been accepted into the beta test — when in fact they were not. A flood of users responded on the official forums, with so many visitors that the website was eventually taken down briefly. Many fans were understandably confused and then annoyed to receive an email stating ”We hope you are enjoying participating in the Game Testing Program and want to thank you for helping shape the most anticipated MMO to date,” when this was the very thing they were being denied. A response from Bioware followed on the forums:
Earlier today, two e-mails were sent to members of the Star Wars: The Old Republic community. These e-mails were sent to a larger group than intended, and have caused some confusion in the community. We can confirm that these e-mails were from EA and BioWare and apologize for any confusion they have caused. Please note that receiving these e-mails does not affect your chances to be invited to test the game. Thank you all for your understanding!

I got those emails too. I was wondering what was up with that.
I was so excited that I got into the beta. :(
