Newest Professor Layton Game Will Include RPG

A few months ago, when I reported on the official overseas release of the last NDS Layton game, Professor Layton and the Last Specter, I wondered whether the bonus RPG would be included. Eurogamer has confirmed that it in fact will…in America.

The game in question, Professor Layton’s London Life, is a 100-hour 16-bit RPG featuring characters from all four games, and features a lot of fetch quests in order to progress through the game. The RPG was co-developed by development studio Brownie Brown, the force behind RPGs like Japan-only Gameboy Advance RPG Mother 3 (the sequel to Earthbound) and the Blue Dragon series of RPGs on the DS. The game will be included on the American port of the game, but is curiously absent on the European and Australian releases. Nintendo of Europe offered no comment as to why London Life was excluded.

Professor Layton and the Last Specter releases in October in North America, and will be released in November in Europe and Australia under the name Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call. Good news for Europeans who wanted to play the London Life RPG…the DS is region-free.
