PAX Prime ’11: Capcom Wrap Up
While at PAX I had a chance to stop by the Capcom booth and check out a few of their upcoming games. Here’s the breakdown.
New Fighting Games
They had several on display, but it was a little weird. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 still didn’t have the full roster. Street Fighter x Tekken was playable, but everyone was just using the Street Fighter characters, so it was hard to get a good feel for it. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition was playable, but the only real question there is if the net code works or not. It was local play, so I still don’t know.
The only notable thing I have to say on the fighting game front is that pronouncing the “x” in Street Fighter x Tekken as “cross” is stupid. I don’t care if it’s the official pronunciation, I’m calling it “x” anyway.
Dead Rising: Off the Record
Well, it’s Dead Rising 2, but with Frank West. This time it takes place on some sort of tropical hooker casino island. Or something. The demo didn’t really make it clear. It’ll cost $40 when it comes out, so that’s kind of cool. So if you aren’t burnt out on the franchise yet you might want to give it a shot.
Some kind of weird Resident Evil team shooter thing
I’m not even going to bother googling the real name, because it looks like ass. Unless you want a crappier version on Gears of War, but with zombies.
Asura’s Wrath
It was kind of a generic action game, but the characters, art design and general world of the game look really cool. About 3/4 of the demo I played was made up of cut scenes and quick-time-events. Hopefully the whole game isn’t like that, but even if it is I would say it will be worth a look. Kind of God of War, but “Eastern” instead of Greek.

You forgot Dragon’s Dogma.
Oh yeah.
Dragon’s Dogma
There was a line. My friend said it looked like Monster Hunter and the PR woman agreed. It was really loud and I couldn’t hear anything else she said.
Then we left for another appointment.
