999 Designers Working on New Title

In news that may very well excite only me, the design team behind last year’s critical hit 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors (which I loved, by the way) have announced a new title to be released on the Nintendo 3DS and the Playstation Vita.

Titled Kyokugen Dasshutsu Adv: Zennin Shiboudes, or, roughly, Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die (which, personally, I hope is the literal release title, because awesome), the new game has been confirmed to be another visual novel-style adventure game, but not much else is known about it. The game will be fully voice acted – which is weird, because of that novel part in the genre description. Kotaru Uchikoshi is returning to oversee direction and scenario, while Kinu Nishimura is returning as character designer. There has yet to be any word whether Shinji Hosoe will return to provide the music.

It is worth noting that the original Japanese title of 999 also had Kyokugen Dasshutsu, or Extreme Escape. Whether this is indicative of the game taking place in the 999 universe or merely a description of the genre of game is unknown. A release date has yet to be announced.

Brett Parsons Says:

Look, I don’t care what anyone else says, just judging from the headline that’s too many developers! 40, 80, 200, maybe 500 for an Assassin’s Creed game, but 999 is TOO MANY DEVELOPERS! Steve Ballmer would approve.

Okay, with this and Layton x Wright, looks like I will be buying a 3DS at some point after all.
