Short Form:
Battling Through The Geometry Wars
Guys. Hey guys. Let me tell you a story about what I got.
Back when the Xbox 360 first launched there wasn’t much going for it. Perfect Dark Zero was awful, and while PGR 3 was decent, I’ve never been a massive fan of simulation racing games. For me, the one saving grace of the console was Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.
When I first bought it, a friend and I would take turns playing. We were pretty bad at the time, and the games would only last a couple of minutes. However, having the game available to me all the time, I began to play much more and started to get better scores. This led to me taking about half an hour to just play one game, which in turn led to just me playing while my friend watched.
I eventually completed all the achievements, and was having trouble getting past my three million high score. My interest started to wane and Geometry Wars was put to one side while I played something else. While bored a couple of weeks later, I thought I would have one last go at beating my high score.
For some reason something just clicked. Enemies which had previously killed me constantly were dispatched with little effort. Bombs, lives and multipliers quickly added up. I have no idea how long I was playing; time didn’t seem to matter any more. Eventually I died, scoring 10,915,835.

I was 65th in the world at the time. In the years of not playing the game, I’ve dropped to 280, but I’m still extremely proud of my Geometry Wars high score. I remember telling anybody who would listen about it. I could never get anywhere near it again, and I doubt I ever will.
