Music Monday: Bright Falls Karaoke

Really, I purposefully saved Music Monday for the evening. It sets a better mood.
I know that Brett covered Alan Wake for the site last year, but I’ve just recently finished it (backlog!), and I must say: the soundtrack was more than fitting. Yes, the quiet score is more than effective at setting a mood in and of itself, but it was the successful usage of licensed music that left more of an impact on me as I played through the game.
Perhaps it comes down to context – the songs have more meaning when you’ve fought through axe-wielding possessed townsfolk while the song plays in the background, or when your only contact with the outside world is a lone radio in the middle of the dark, foreboding woods, book-ending dramatic, action-packed episodes, or even during a bitchin’ pyrotechnic stage battle – but I’m listening to Space Oddity in a whole different way now.
The Beaten Side of Town – Barry Adamson
The Poet and the Muse – Poets of the Fall (as Old Gods of Asgard)
Space Oddity – David Bowie
