THQ Closes Studios, Lays Off 200
Just about everyone over the age of eight hates crappy licensed games. THQ, being the forward thinking company they are, have decided to do what EA did several years ago and start to move away from the shovelware market.
Sounds good on paper. Until you read that as part of this shake up THQ is shutting down three studios, Blue Tongue, THQ Studio Australia and THQ Digital Phoenix, and laying off 200 people in the process.
THQ recently shelved the Red Faction franchise, and is also putting an end to the MX vs. ATV series, leaving many to wonder how they made a series out of dudes riding around in fields.
Hopefully this works out for the better in the long run, and more importantly, best of luck to the developers unfortunate enough be get caught up in all this.

Red faction was good! Why do game companies shoot themselves in the foot on a constant basis? Aargh!
