Music Monday: Strangely Well-Adjusted

Recently, I finished Spicy Horse and EA’s Alice: Madness Returns, the sequel to 2000′s PC hit American McGee’s Alice. It was, honestly, somewhat disappointing, but I don’t regret the $30 I spent on it (I certainly would have regretted a launch-day $60). I’ve been writing a review for it (no, really, I still write for this site!) and figured I’d offer a few of the game’s tracks as an appetizer in this week’s Music Monday. Overall, the soundtrack for Madness Returns isn’t as creepy as Alice, but there’s still some good stuff here.

By the by, for those who won’t get around to reading the review, I present the Cliff’s Notes: great background visuals, super-linear with old-school annoying platforming, feels (and ultimately plays) like a PS2 game.

“Main Theme”

“Jade”

“Dollhouses” (THIS LEVEL. UGH.)

Ps2 was in the middle of the FPS transition. I would pay buckets for the PS2 scene again. Middling platformers with awesome concepts and beautiful art a la Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank.

I have to say this game is probably a contender for my GOTY. I absolutely love it!
