Music Monday: Blue Hedgehog Orchestra Edition

After being mentioned in the latest episode of the NZCast, I’ve spent the last week listening to the music from the first two Sonic games. Sonic 2 was the first Mega Drive game I owned, and I still enjoy going back to it every so often to play through it. Each level has a great unique sound to it, which fits the stage perfectly.
While making the (tough) decisions of which levels to feature, Gavin sent me a link to a few videos by Blake Robinson. I was impressed immediately, so changed focus to his work. Blake has a background in programming and writing music, and his remixes of the Sonic 2 tracks bring them up to date, while still keeping the overall sound the same. It’s Blake’s orchestral remixes of old Sonic tunes, which are truly impressive though. If Sega ever get around to doing an HD remake of Sonic 2, they really should get in touch with him for the audio work.

His version of the Sonic 2 Special Stage is now my ringtone. So good.
Gentlemen, I do believe OCRemix is IMHO better.
