Octodad Talks About Life, Friends, Money for A Sequel

Shame on you if, after reading that headline, you had to ask yourself “What’s Octodad?” The Independent Games Festival Student Showcase winner and overall quirky title should have been on your radar earlier this year. The interesting control scheme and wacky story of an octopus who lives life as a wonderful suburban father are more than enough to get you to fall in love with this game. That’s why I did, at least.

Those are also some reasons why I want to see more of Octodad in the wild. If this Kickstarter campaign succeeds, that wish might come true. The  team behind the arm-flailing simulator has released a donation/preview video for Octodad 2 on the world-famous cloud funding site. The video shows off some gameplay and environments from a second game, should one be released.

To help get the game released, the Octodad team needs your money. $20,000 is all that’s needed to get them game ready for release. As of writing, almost 50% of that goal has been met. If you’d like to donate, or on the fence, then there are some perks you can indulge in. For donating certain amounts, you can get your name in the credits, a t-shirt, an Octodad figurine, or a handmade Octodad costume. Oh God do I want that costume.

If you’d like to know more about the team that created the title, you can check out Nukezilla’s interview with the DePaul Game Experience here.
