Rockstar Games, Team Bondi Allegedly Part Ways

Well, that was quick.

Less than a week after allegations of employee mistreatment at L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi studio, Rockstar Games has apparently decided not to publish any of Team Bondi’s future endeavors, reports Gamesindustry.biz.

The source — a former Team Bondi staff member who prefers to remain anonymous — claims that Rockstar Games grew increasingly frustrated with the Australian studio, specifically McNamara’s management style and the overall cost of the game over its seven-year development. The source further claims that it was actually Rockstar Games’ deep pockets and marketing plans that made L.A. Noire the critical and commercial hit it has become.

Reports like these — especially those with unnamed sources — should always be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is interesting to note that the prior complaints against Team Bondi have all been anonymous, and many have been verified even prior to the IGDA investigation; there is therefore a good chance that this one may be true as well.

Neither camp has made an official statement.
