GAME May Soon Offer MS Points to Reward Card Holders

GAME, the UK’s largest videogame retailer, has been struggling to keep hold of the game-selling market for the past few years. As one effort to combat this Nukezilla has learned the company is looking to link GAME’s Reward Card with customers’ Xbox Live and PlayStation Network accounts. This will allow shoppers at GAME to earn MS Points and PlayStation Wallet rewards.

A senior manager at GAME, talking to Nukezilla on the grounds that they not be named, said the company is hoping to have the new rewards in place as early as September. This comes along with a new “dedicated to gamers” approach to serving customers which gives staff at GAME the ability to order out-of-stock games for customers, as well as making the shops feel less businesslike and more fun.

As a fan of the physical world it always breaks my heart to walk past a GAME shop. Even if the staff have all the good will in the world, it’s still a fairly terrible experience. Over-priced peripherals and no PC games other than cheap simulators or World of Warcraft just make all the other super-convenient ways to shop more appealing.

These plans, announced internally late last week, will hopefully make GAME feel less like a bad bookshop and more like a trendy store where I feel intimated by the overly-excited staff (see: Apple stores).

There’s text beneath the title.

@Harry Bandell: it makes more sense when you read it not after 4 hours in a boiling exam room.

It is when your not forcing your staff to sell those crappy extra warranties, or if you do have to sell them at least give the staff some sort of OTE bonus. I sold 40 of the damn things and all i got was “SELL MORE”…Fascists

gcndavidmn Says:

Oh man those things they try to sell bug me! Especially when there is a queue going to the back of the shop and the bloke is still giving everyone the whole “Do you want to pre-order?” talk.

@gcndavidmn:

Yup, I had to do that and hated every moment of it, the only good thing about working in games retail was MCV magazine
