Battlefield 3′s Exclusive Pre-Order Stuff Not So Exclusive Anymore
In a move that is totally not a U-turn after massive public disappointment, DICE have announced — ahem, sorry — clarified, that the pre-order “exclusive” DLC is going to be timed-exclusive, and all players will have access to it eventually.
On the BF3 blog, Karl Magnus Troedsson, General Manager at DICE said that he “always knew our pre-order offers for Battlefield 3 would be open to misunderstandings”. He clarified that “if you do not pre-order, you will still get access to this content at a later date, free of charge.”
He also said that the map pack that you get for free with the pre-order isn’t “day one DLC and it is not on the base game disc”. Which I’m glad to hear, because if that were the case they would all be massive arseholes. As it is, that map pack is simply content they know they can get away with not putting on the disc and will be releasing for everyone after the game’s launched. They’ve got to make their money back somehow.
