The Results Are in: Sony And Nintendo Impress Most at E3, Microsoft Not so Much
Last week we asked you which press conference you thought was the most impressive. Whilst there wasn’t much to separate Sony and Nintendo at the top it’s clear the Microsoft left most to desire.
A few of you took advantage of the “Other” option, resulting in EA getting more votes than Microsoft.
A couple of you also responded with “none”, which I hope means you found them all equally impressive rather than you found none of them the most impressive. That latter option would be a logical farce and make me judge you harshly.

I still don’t think Microsoft really understands E3 any more. E3 is a core show, where core gamers eat and breathe a stream of announcements and trailers, because they care enough to take an active interest to follow this stuff.
“Casuals” (yes, I’m tweaking the no labels in gaming crowd on purpose, because there is a material distinction) don’t even know what E3 is. Much of Microsoft’s presser would have been better suited at the conferences of the respective publishers instead. What’s left, you know, the actual Microsoft bit, would fit better at CES.
I liked what Microsoft had to offer the most, personally, I have never owned and enjoyed a Nintendo console as my primary gaming platform (MegaDrive, PS1, PS2, Xbox [the game feel and "The Duke" made me switch over], Xbox 360) so Nintendo’s mascots have very little sway for me.
I’m at a point where I really detest shooters (I’m writing this to put off playing DNF to justify the money I spent on it, might watch Gilmore Girls instead, might wait to see if the Arcade game tomorrow is any good) and, honestly, the idea of more games with guns in them kinda puts me off the idea of games nowadays and that Fable and Ryse stuff looked kinda cool.
Also, this number crunching is pretty cool as of recent. It’s a nice meta layer on top of the news.
I like it!
@Faye Lanks: Welcome to Club Shooter Fatigue. If I had my way, Irrational and Valve are the only studios allowed to make shooters for the next 20 years.
I find it insane that so many people think Sony’s conference was good.
It was just Uncharted 3 followed by an hour of awkward, half-functional demos. Good job, Jeremy.
