Cloud Storage Coming to The Xbox
An interesting announcement that didn’t feature as part of Microsoft’s E3 Press conference was the feature, due later this year, of cloud storage on the Xbox. This means instead of saving all your profile info and game saves on your console, it’ll all be stored on some central servers. If you change console, all your stuff should come with you.
In the past I’ve ended up cursing at Microsoft whenever me or a friend wants to use a different console. The “gamertag recovery” system was so archaic and a real pain in the arse (seriously, if I want to watch a load of progress bars before being allowed to play, I’ll use my PS3. Zing!). This news is welcome, and possibly long overdue.
I can see it causing massive headaches for people who lose internet connection or stop paying for Xbox Live, but what happens in those situations isn’t yet known so it’d be unfair for me to make any negative predictions and then complain about them pre-emptively. I’ll wait until they happen.

So long as it doesn’t cost me any extra on top of XBL Gold (damn thing’s expensive enough as it is) and so long as the damn thing actually works (an alien concept for many of XBL’s services, especially anything tied to an account), I’m game.
I’m a bit surprised they didn’t acknowledge it in the press conference, but its about time they implemented this.
