Forza 4 Pre-Order Details

Although no release date was announced (Turn-10 has said it is aiming for sometime this fall), Turn-10 Studios has given us some new details and pre-order information on Forza Motorsport 4 through their blog. Announced last year, Forza 4 will be Turn-10s third Forza racing sim on the Xbox 360.

Starting today, anyone can pre-order the game for $59.99 and depending on where you pre-order, there are bonuses in the form of in-game cars. Turn-10 also announced a Limited Collectors Edition, with that details on that edition coming soon. The list of cars available from different retailers is as follows:

  • Amazon.com – Subaru Impreza WRX STI
  • Best Buy – BMW 1 Series M Coupe
  • GameStop – Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde
  • Wal-Mart – MINI John Cooper Works Clubman
  • Target – Honda CR-Z EX

Also included in the first production run of Forza Motorsport 4 are the following cars:

  • Ford Mustang GT Coupe 1965
  • Koenigsegg Agera 2011
  • Lexus SC300 1997
  • RUF RGT-8 2011
  • Tesla Roadster Sport 2011

The other two announcements made today are that the car on the front cover of the Standard Edition of Forza 4 will be the Ferrari 458 Italia. The second announcement pertains more too those who played Forza 3; you will be able to import your save file into Forza 4; this includes cars, credits, and vinyls that you have created. It is not known yet which cars will be allowed to be imported.

How many cars and tracks will be in the game is still up in the air, but since the series has been in direct competition with Gran Turismo for the last six years, and Forza 3 after all of the DLC was over 500 cars, it will probably be a sizable number. A leaked internal trailer claims the game will have over 500 cars and five new track locations.

Sam Jordan Says:

I just hope that Forza 4 is a little more exciting that number 3. The last one, like lots of sim racing games, just had this glaze over it. Got pretty boring after a while.

Still, it’s nowhere near as dull as GT5.

Brett Parsons Says:

My big gripe about the Forza games is that they tend to price-drop like a lead balloon. There’s no way I’m paying $60 for a game that’s going to be $20 in three months.

Kyle Heimbigner Says:

The only thing I don’t want to see is a repeat of Forza 3′s DLC situation where a year later we get a new edition of the game with DLC that is exclusive to that edition. Forcing previous players to either deal with it or go out and buy another copy of the game. Judging by Turn-10s pre-order details though, they are going in this direction yet again.

I do agree with Sam that a lot of racing sims tend to be very clinical and sterile. Shift 2 Unleashed didn’t have that issue but it came at the cost of a physics engine that was flawed.

As a racing sim fan, I just want to see more cars and tracks that I haven’t seen before in other games. The Forza and Gran Turismo series have been great about this.

Dyllan Mayfield Says:

let me just be the first to say that i have played this game. Not even close to being dull. The scenery has major rendering graphics. The cars are amazing, and with new modes like blitz and alpine rush, there are more things to do. Including Autovista and Rivals modes.
