LA Noire May Cause Console Overheating
Edge has reported that owners of L.A. Noire on both Xbox 360 and PS3 are reporting their consoles overheating while playing the game.
It has been hypothesized that Sony’s recent firmware update (3.61 – the required update after the month-long PSNGate) was to blame, and Rockstar earlier posted a joint statement claiming that responsibility cannot be pinned on neither the firmware update nor the game disc.
Now Sony has adamantly denied culpability, pointing instead to Rockstar’s workaround advice as admission of responsibility.
That was when the problem was strictly PS3-only. The problem has also now been reported for 360 owners, suggesting it may really be the game to blame for the overheating problems. Neither Microsoft nor Rockstar has released an official statement regarding the 360 overheating.

Y’know, I’d have thought that creating a set hardware platform would allow you to create something that, even at full theoretical load, wouldn’t overheat. Because that is, surely, the entire bloody point of a console? A set hardware platform so you can work out the kinks?
Does installing the game make a difference? I can’t seem to find anything that says anything about install.
Granted the thing is a goddamn beast at 20 gigs so it needs a lot of room, but so far I haven’t had any overheating.
Now, I’m not a hardware guy so I’m kinda talking out my ass here, but maybe the overheating issue stems from how often the game has to access the disc? :/
