Nintendo Confirms Wii Successor For 2012 Launch, E3 Showing Scheduled

Nintendo released a press statement earlier today confirming the successor to the Wii is currently in development, with a launch planned for next year. A playable version of the hardware will be shown of at this year’s E3 in June. The press release implies that the console will be available for purchase sometime after March 2012, as projected sales of the new system were not included in the next year’s financial forcasts.
For a little over a week the Wii’s successor has been rumored to have the ability to display better graphics than the Xbox 360 and PS3 and feature a controller with a six inch touch-pad screen. The console’s rumored codename is “Project Cafe,” though the possibility of it being called the Nintendo Stream hasn’t been excluded.
This year’s E3 takes place in Los Angeles, June 7-9.

This is interesting news.. But, I wonder where Pikmin 3 fits in any of this. I hope they will release it before Wii 2 launch.
I just hope they have software to show. It’s been proposed in some circles that not even PilotWings Resort on 3DS was made in house, so it really begs the question, what the heck are all of Nintendo’s internal teams working on? It can’t all be Super Mario 3DS and Skyward Sword.
