Music Monday: The Ambience of A Machine World

As happened to many people, the Humble Indie Bundle #2 allowed me to get many amazing games I’ve been wanting to play for a great price. Out of the whole lot of games I purchased, Machinarium is the standout. I’ve been a point-and-click fan for a long time, andI’m a sucker for outstanding art in a videogame. I was immediately enthralled with the simplistic story of a small robot’s adventures through a beautifully rendered industrial city.
Along the way I was accompanied by the wonderful score of Machinarium’s composer Tomas Dvorak. The soundtrack has the innate ability to just sound like a cacophony of sounds coming from the everyday surroundings of Machinarium’s world. The electronic blips, clanging of metal, and bursts of steam combine into a beautiful ambient harmony. Whether funk-like or trance-inducing, the music is grand enough to enjoy a regular spot on many an iTunes playlist.
I’m here to take some time out to show you my favorite bits of the soundtrack. Without further ado, here’s some choice music from Machinarium to start out your Monday morning.
“Robot Band”
Note: While not in the soundtrack, this band serenades you in-game when you’ve returned/fixed their instruments. This is by far my favorite quest of the game, as it allows you to hear this amazing song.
“Clockwise Operetta”
“Nanorobot Tune”

Yay! Machinarium! It is pure win.
I couldn’t agree more with this article! Not only is Machinarium a great game, its soundtrack is awesome too.
Definitely the best soundtrack from an Indie game that I know of. And I play a lot of indie games.
Check out the other songs on the soundtrack as well. By the Wall, the Prison, the Sea and the Bottom.
Never played the game, but that last track is pretty rockin.
