Shogun II Update Locking Out Some Steam Users

Where's my game Steam?I won’t presume to insult your intelligence with some sort of “I’m steamed” pun, but I’m one of an undetermined number of purchasers of Total War: Shogun II who are now locked out of playing the game after the latest patch.

Despite the game working just fine last night (indeed, I had a rockin’ campaign going with the bow heavy faction until about 5am) I’m suddenly being told “Incomplete Installation (15)” when I try to run the game.

Steam’s list of common error codes includes a half-dozen or so — but not for number 15.  According to the forums, this is affecting quite a few people with varying error codes, and the only common solution seems to be that it magically fixes for some people.

Are you locked out of Shogun II? Please post your error code in the comments so we can get some idea of how widespread this problem is.

Dan Rosenthal Says:

Update: It finally appears to be fixed for me, about 10 hours later from when I first tried to play.

Tim Says:

I’m still having some trouble. I used to be getting that error 15 message, but now, I’m getting no error message and I’m still locked out from playing the game.
