Harrison Ford Working on a…Facebook Game?

In arguably one of the most surreal twists since the end of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, it’s been announced by Los Angeles-based Talkie Studios that they are collaborating with both Harrison Ford and Conservation International on a brand new Facebook game.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the game named Ecotopia will feature city-building and be designed to teach people about green initiatives. After friends verify you haven’t been taking a blowtorch to the ice caps, you’ll receive points to further the experience. Ford, who is vice chairman of Conservation International, sees Ecotopia as “a great way to engage millions of people in our fight to protect our planet”.

The game will be launching sometime this spring.

I’ve never been one to go all green, but if Deckard is involved then so am I!

Hmm, interesting. I don’t play Facebook games because
1) I’m not on Facebook because I’m not comfortable giving out that kind of information,
2) like any game exclusively released on a social networking site is worth playing anyway. Name me one.

But on the other hand, I like this trend in games trying to promote some kind of message. Reminds me of the message in Two Hundred Stuff about the dangers of ignoring our environmental responsibilities due to our conditioned commercialism.

@UglyDuck: I pretty much agree with most of your points. I try my best to lock my info down but Facebook, despite it’s shady black market information dealings, IS a useful tool.

The Back to the Future game was alright because it was..Back to the Future, which is awesome.

And I’m honestly honored I remind you even a smidge of that guy.
