Deus Ex: Human Revolution Set For August 23

No! How could this be? Eidos and Square-Enix have been in full-on hype mode with Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the last couple of months now. It seemed certain that their cyberpunk sci-fi RPG was just around the corner. All of the rumors pointed to an early June release at the latest. All of those hopes were dashed when we learned today that Human Revolution will not ship until August 23 in North America and August 26 in the U.K.

There will be two versions available: the regular edition for $60 and the Augmented Edition for $70. The latter includes your typical premium packaging, a 40-page art book, a DVD with behind-the-scenes footage, and a motion graphic novel. Gamestop pre-orders include DLC with an extra mission with a cameo from a special guest from the first Deus Ex game. Also included is a grenade launcher and automatic lockpick.

Developer Eidos Montreal has said that they want to stay true to the first Deus Ex game. From what we’ve seen in videos and screenshots, their claims seem pretty accurate. They are giving us a world that the original Deus Ex was not able to provide due to technology restrictions at the time. Just like in the original, players will be able to choose how they want to approach each situation, with the two primary ways being combat or stealth. Your interaction with NPCs will also play a very important role in the game world and shape the events that will play out through your adventure.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Sean Fletcher Says:

Well that sucks. I thought it was coming out this month or April for some reason.

I’m glad they are trying to make it more like the first game rather than the massive disappointment of Invisible War. I started playing through the original again last weekend. It has aged surprisingly well. The graphics look awful but the gameplay is still great.
