3DS Zelda Gets a Launch Window

This past week at GDC, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata announced that the 3DS remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would launch sometime in June in North America (although I can’t imagine releases in Japan and Europe would be too far behind).
It may not be right on time for the 3DS launch and it’s not a new game, but that extra time is a great opportunity to start saving up for Nintendo’s latest handheld for those who haven’t started already. In this author’s opinion, a higher-res retread of one of Link’s best-loved adventures sounds much more exciting than the Mario 64 rehash that was delivered at the launch of the original DS.
You can pick up your 3DS on March 27 in the US and March 25 in Europe.

As I already commented on wire.vg I’ve never actually completed the single most beloved Zelda title. NES, SNES, Gamecube, Wii all yes. But, I was a no-go on the N64 until halfway through college when I bought one for $50 with a few games including Zelda. I may buy the 3DS for this and a few other unique experiences alone…especially if I end up being committed to a new long daily public transportation commute.
@Parsons: I think the graphic upgrades and the inclusion of Master Quest in the 3DS version will provide enough interest for persons such as yourself to get through the game. I still think it is really worth it.
I don’t think I ever planned to buy the 3DS at launch. The price isn’t really a factor, I just know that eventually they are going to release a special edition of it, possibly to accompany the release of OoT 3DS. The boring launch titles just confirmed it for me; why buy it now when I have a bunch of great DS titles waiting for me to finish them?
