FF4 Complete Special Edition to be Released in Europe
Final Fantasy IV was the second RPG I ever played, but it was my first “serious” one. Call me a sucker for nostalgia, but the story of Cecil, a former soldier drawn unwillingly into the role of world savior, just kind of stuck with me. When I heard about The Complete Collection on PSP, I was thrilled, but now, I’m just a little envious.
Square Enix announced yesterday that a special edition would be released in Europe, consisting of the game as well as art cards, a cleaning cloth, and free DLC for their other upcoming Final Fantasy PSP title Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, to be revealed on a later date.
Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection includes a port of the original Final Fantasy IV — with updated graphics — as well as the game’s spinoff/sequel, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, previously only available outside Japan as a WiiWare download.
Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection releases in the United States on April 19, 2011, and Europe April 22, 2011. No pricing has been officially announced for European release; the game will cost $29.99 in the United States.

Blasted spoony bard.
I’m confused, which platform(s) is this for? PSP?
@ouched: I’m just happy that even though the game’s been retranslated several times, that line is still in there.
@HunterZ: It’s PSP. I did put it in there, but realized where I put it was ambiguous. I have changed it; thank you.
It would be a crime to take that line out. If only they made him useful character.
@ouched: Edward was actually a useful character…if you had the patience to level him up to 70 or 80. Then he gets the highest stats in the game and can actually break the 9,999 damage limit.
But since no one has the patience to do that…yeah. He’s pretty useless. But I can’t hate him entirely. He is, after all, a spoony bard.
@Jenny Rouse: Yeah, thats a lot of time to make him useful. That sounds as bad as leveling a Magicarp up to Gyrados in Pokemon before they created the experience share, X 4.
I’ll probably check this out at some point. I just wish Square would show VI a fraction of the love they dish at IV.
@ouched: I think I may have done that once, way back when I played Pokemon and there were only two colors to choose from.
I wish they would, too. While I’m happy to see a continuation/redo of FFIV, I simply like FFVI better, and it baffles me that it’s only received a GBA port with sub-par music. Where’s my DS remake? Or, better question: where’s my PSP port?
And despite what anyone feels about the game, Square Enix is sitting on a gold mine with FFVII. I’m shocked there hasn’t been one port of it. Not one.
