Telltale Launching New King’s Quest Games
Ohh, man. Love is in the air.
A day after announcing their Walking Dead and Fables games, Telltale Games have announced their intent to produce all-new games in the King’s Quest series. Details are scarce, but Telltale has promised more information at E3 in June.
For those who may need a history lesson or refresher: the first game in the series, King’s Quest (later King’s Quest: Quest for the Crown), released in 1984, spearheaded by Roberta Williams, one of the famed pioneers in graphic adventure gaming. The King’s Quest series itself focuses on Sir (later, King) Graham, ruler of the kingdom of Daventry. Later entries in the series follow his son, Alexander; his daughter, Rosella, and even his wife, Queen Valanice.
Telltale’s announcement marks the first official King’s Quest game since 1998. It is worth noting that fan remakes of the original series have been ongoing since 2001 by AGD Interactive (with Roberta Williams’ blessing), as well as a fan series, The Silver Lining by Phoenix Online Studios (with the hard-won permission of Vivendi Universal/Activision, the current rights holder).

Holy crap, are you serious? As in current generation graphics, or are they keeping it old school? Man, I’d love to relive those storylines.
@Joe: Neither, really. Telltale Games usually have stylized, cartoony graphics. I would expect to see something like that in the King’s Quest games.
And you know all of the King’s Quest games are bundled on Good Old Games, right?
Well, when I say “relive” I really mean to say “continue”. I still have all of the old ones, even the VGA remakes of King’s Quest, Quest for Glory, Police Quest, Space Quest…
You know, the “quest” games!
I just realized I wasn’t logged in. Uh, moderator… Moderator. Fix my comments, yeah. Great. Thanks.
@Joe: No Leisure Suit Larry? Only play LSL 1-3 and 5-7, though, when Al Lowe was still involved. Anything after that was utter garbage. I may in fact write up a review of the latest LSL game and express just how much I hated it. Ugh.
I’ve played all of the LSL’s that are worth playing, up to 6 I think. I think it must have lost its novelty when I lost my virginity.
@Joe: Very true, and I’ll admit it’s been a while since I last played the old Leisure Suit Larry games, but I seem to remember them still being clever and even laugh-out-loud funny at times.
Still waiting on Leisure Suit Larry 4, though. :P
