Sony Offers Free Genesis Games to PlayStation Plus Subscribers
PlayStation Plus subscribers may finally be getting some of their money’s worth starting in March, as Sony is offering six classic Sega Genesis games free for subscribers.
The games include the first two Sonic games, as well as side-scrolling beat ‘em ups Golden Axe II, Altered Beast and Streets of Rage 2, and the arcade adventure game Comix Zone. One game will be released each month, starting in early March with the original Sonic and winding up in August with Altered Beast.
PlayStation Plus is a pay per quarter/year service offered by Sony that allows subscribers access to any special offers available from Sony. The disappointment many subscribers exhibit is the lack of actual deals when compared to the price of subscription. Often subscribers are given a free avatar or two, a three-dollar discount off of unpopular games, or access to demos a week before their official launch on the PSN store.
Recently, though, perhaps inspired by the spirit of love, Sony has started offering free mainstream downloads — Stacking earlier this month, and now these Genesis games — and I can only hope Sony continues to strive to make the $50/year asking price worth it.

Thats kind of cool, I suppose. Sega seems to be mining it’s back catalog for all it’s worth these days. I think you can buy them on Steam for $3 a piece.
