Civ 4 Composer Wins First Grammy For A Videogame

Last night’s 53rd annual Grammy awards marked a milestone for videogames. Christopher Tin was nominated and won for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for his Civilization 4 song “Baba Yetu“. The song, which was released on an album in 2009, making it eligible for this year’s awards, was the first of two videogame songs to be nominated this year (the other being “Sudden Death” by Megadeath from Gutar Hero: Warriors of Rock). This is the first year any videogame song was nominated for the prestigious award, making “Baba Yetu” the first game song to win.
