Torchlight Due on Xbox Live in March, Torchlight II Delayed
Torchlight, one of my favourite PC games of recent times, will be arriving on Xbox Live on March 9th for 1200 MS Points. It’s been popped into the “Xbox LIVE Arcade House Party” event, for some reason. I don’t want to poo-poo too much on what’s likely to be my favourite Xbox Live game of 2011, so I’ll leave that topic there.
Though, the port has given eager PC fans something to potentially go “aww, really?” about; it’s caused the release of Torchlight II to be pushed back to July, from its original May or June release. Talking to Digital Spy, Runic Games’ CEO Max Schaefer said “that the Xbox project, having to do the extra work with the interface, has pushed us back a little bit, so we’re probably talking July right now for Torchlight II.”
Other than that, things are “going great”. Which is good to know. *nods*

Awesome news! The delay is a bit disappointing, but considering my backlog is growing exponentially, I won’t be affected in the slightest.
I hope the Xbox crowd picks up Torchlight as enthusiastically as the PC crowd did. I think Darwinia+ and Zeno Clash on XBLA weren’t a huge hit, but I have no sources to back that up (I also heard they were great considering the additional features on top of the vanilla PC version). Hopefully Torchlight succeeds and secures Runic a place on consoles.
