Uncharted Director Wants Scarlett Johansson as Elena Fisher

Mark Wahlberg in the leading role, massive plot changes; it seems like fans of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune can’t catch a break when it comes to the film adaptation of one of their favorite games. Maybe now they can (or perhaps not).

Talking to Empire, director David O. Russel has expressed a desire to cast “the most beautiful woman in Hollywood”, Scarlett Johansson, opposite Marky Mark, as Elena Fisher in his adaption of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

“Ah, Elena. I’ve cultivated her quite a bit and I think I’ve added a lot of dimension to her so that’s all I’m going to say,” said Russel. “I love the woman characters and the more robust they are, the more robust the movie … there’s [sic] a lot of greater [actresses] I think might suit. Hopefully, we’ll see how it works out with everybody who are being scoped to do that role,” he said.

Apparently, another possible candidate for the role is Wahlberg’s co-start from The Fighter, Amy Adams. In terms of talent, Adams is undoubtedly the best choice (she even has multiple Oscar nominations), but the draw of Johansson’s beauty would be enough to give viewers (and the marketing team) a wet dream.

Or, you know, they could just get the same actress from the games. It’s not like she’s opposed to the idea.

Johanson is cute, I saved that picture.

Who cares about the Uncharted movie? If it’s watchable, it’s watchable; it’s not like they’re doing a lucas and changing the games to suit the movie. I’ll be interested in Uncharted: the Movie: the Game coming out of Activision multiplatform to coincide with the film release.

“the most beautiful woman in Hollywood, Scarlet Jahansson”.

That’s a funny way of spelling Olivia Wilde.

UglyDuck Says:

Oh, I didn’t see this one. In that case, I take back what I said about the other celebrity article – it’s not an acceptable mistake. This is lerpaderp pandering-to-the-masses name-dropping bullshit with only a tangential relationship to videogames. I think I might donate to NZ now so that I can say I paid for it and there will be none of this sort of thing on MY site.
