Quakecon 2011 Dates Announced

Mark your calendars for August 4-7 PC gamers, Quakecon is once again bringing four days of peace, love and rockets to Dallas, Texas.

The event is free to attend, but as registration details have yet to be released, there’s still a chance of the “Quakecon done quick” paid faster registration option (with T-shirt!) they tried last year.

The Hilton Anatole is playing host again this year, so apparently we somehow managed not to tear anything up bad enough to get kicked out. That, or those hotel bar tabs covered any damages. Good job everyone!

The main draw of the show is, as always, the BYOC LAN. Hopefully the network issues get worked out this year though. Last year a lot of people had to resort to tethering iPhones to get far enough into Steam to even switch over to offline mode.

One of the biggest changes last year after id became part of Zennimax was the addition of more industry panels, bringing in people from Bethesda, Respawn, and other studios. They haven’t announced who (and at six months out, who can blame them), but it looks like they’ll be making a return as well.

So, if you can make it to Dallas in early August, you should probably try and stop by. I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend.
