Frank West Kept Out of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Late In Development
We’ve been getting a lot of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 character reveals over the past few months. A lot have been expected, thanks to shadow-filled trailers and artwork that popped up early on. One expected character has always been journalist Frank West thanks to his sillhouette showing up in early-released art.
Unfortunately Capcom has opted out of bringing the war-coverer to the star-studded title according to producer Ryota Niitsuma.
In an interview with VideoGamer.com Niitsuma explained that Frank had been included from the beginning. “He was actually in the process quite deep, and in one of our high quality CG trailers he was actually part of it.” Apparently people liked him so much in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom that they wanted to keep him around in the next iteration of the series.
As time went on, Mr. West turned out to be a bit too complicated for the team to tackle. “We’ve taken him out, due to the fact that we’ve foreseen some extra work involved, just from the nature of his moves,” Niitsuma said. But know that cutting Frank was for the best: “We felt we could direct our resources to better use, so we’ve taken Frank out.”
This is a bit depressing as it would’ve been fun to have the Dead Rising star included in another great fighting game. But we can still hope and pray that he can be finished and brought out in DLC sometime down the road.

My inner cynic has gazed into his crystal ball and has seen the future: a $10 DLC pack headlined by Frank West and two throw away characters.
@ouched: I came here to write that exact comment.
They saw how excited everyone was about it and went $_$
