Portal’s “Still Alive” Recreated in Minecraft

Minecraft is a very clever little game, mainly because it gives players lots of room for self-expression and experimentation. A prime example of this is the video posted below which shows the classic Portal song “Still Alive” played in the game with impressive accuracy.

This was all done by YouTube user Tritex989. He notes that the song isn’t quite perfect due to the game’s restrictions on how many octaves you can have (two), but it’s a really good recreation of Jonathan Coulton’s brilliant track.

He notes it took 5-6 hours of work to get it just right, which in itself is probably a feat. I think I’d end up killing myself trying to get every single note right.

It’s worth checking out a couple other of his tracks as well. The Family Guy theme tune is rather good as his version of Clocks by Coldplay.
