Wheel Friction Removed From GTA IV’s Vehicles, Physics Go Crazy

The laws of motion, eh? Pesky buggers. Regulating our existence in a cosmic balance of actions, reactions and unbalanced forces. What would it be like if we turned it all off?

Well somebody did. In Grand Theft Auto IV at least. By setting the the vehicle wheel friction parameter in the game’s physics engine to a negative value, YouTube user dot12321 has managed to make the cars, buses and motorbikes in Liberty City react to the slightest touch in very violent ways.

The videos embedded below show the chaotic hilarity and make me wish I had a more powerful PC so I could mess around with these kinds of things.

Why is this so satisfying to watch!?

I can’t remember the exact line from The Matrix Reloaded, Trinity said something like “You always told me to stay off the freeway”.
Heh, Rockstar should of had a mini game where one attempts to make it from point A to B while the physics are haywire.
New sub-genre of computer game?
Vehicular crazy physics survival?

That was really entertaining.
