Game Developers Choice Awards 2011 Nominees Announced
Remember that total joke known as the VGAs? Forget all that. The real gaming awards show — known as the Game Developers Choice Awards, an awards ceremony “by developers, for developers” — is happening on March 2, 2011, and they’ve just released their list of nominees.
Leading the pack is indie darling Limbo with seven nominations (including Best Debut Game, Best Downloadable Game, and Innovation) and Red Dead Redemption with six nominations (including Best Game Design, Best Writing, and Game of the Year) and Mass Effect 2 with a respectable five nominations.
Other games nominated include Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain, Double Fine’s Costume Quest, Team Meat’s Super Meat Boy, and, yes, Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Other awards to be handed out this year include the Special Awards: the Pioneer Award (awarded for breakthrough technology), the Ambassador Award (for community contribution), and the Lifetime Achievement Award. The list of nominees for these awards has yet to be released, nor has a host been confirmed.

It may not be as bad as the VGAs, but any awards that give a nod to Costume Quest for “Best Downloadable Game” while leaving out Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is a joke also.
