EA’s Riccitiello: Digital Sales to Overtake Retail in 2011

Speaking to Industry Gamers, EA’s Jon Riccitiello has said that ”at the end of [2011], the digital business is bigger than the packaged goods business, full stop. No questions in my mind.”

This means, according to Riccitiello, that EA will be then be able to start selling “content in chunks and in pieces and subscriptions and micro-transactions.”

Oh my god… The beginning of the end is here. I say this because not every publisher is as conciencious as valve and what they can get away with, they will until there is no more market.
I doubt it will be EA to screw the pooch on this one, more likely it will be activision, but i fear for gaming in 3-4 years if this is the case.
