First Details on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The first details on Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have hit, and they come from an unexpected place: Italy! Italian site EveryEye.It appears to have beaten out even NeoGAF in getting the information first. Nevertheless, a source is a source. Shall we continue?

Skyrim is set two centuries after the previous Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion. The title is set in its namesake region of Skyrim and spans five cities. The skill system (which is compared to Fallout 3)  has been reworked, as has the combat.

Fans will also be happy to hear the graphics engine is also getting an overhaul.

This all sounds good in theory, but after what many saw as a shoddy product (let alone misstep) in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and the debacle that was birthed from handing the Fallout series over to Obsidian, the return of Todd Howard’s team is sure to be one met with varying emotions.

Phoshi Says:

I think one ‘misstep’ (Am I the only one who liked Oblivion more than morrowind?) isn’t enough to colour all future titles. Personally I’m looking forward to Skyrim with cautious optimism.

Grasslunatic Says:

I really liked Oblivion (granted, I’ve never played any other Elder Scrolls games) and apart from the glitches, I think New Vegas is much better than Fallout 3.

Adushan Govender Says:

Oblivion kicked ass, why did anyone think it sucked?

Alright, killing anything brought the wrath of the guards even inside houses, but it was huge in scope, had great graphics and pretty good music and sound.
