Sebastian Vael is The Exiled Prince of First Dragon Age II DLC

BioWare has revealed the pre-order bonus character (which will be available as paid DLC to those who don’t pre-order) for their upcoming Dragon Age II. Known as Sebastian Vael, the character is a rogue archer of noble origins with a Scottish accent and a thirst for revenge.
Vael is a fully realized companion, capable of traveling with the player for the entirety of the game, complete with his own unique dialogue and quests. Anyone who pre-orders Dragon Age II before January 11, will get a free upgrade to the game’s Signature Edition and thus receive Vael for free (in addition to other content). Those who don’t can purchase him at any point after the game’s release for $6.99 on PSN or 560 MS/BioWare points on Xbox 360/PC, respectively.
I quite like Vael already (more so than any other companion BioWare has revealed thus far, actually), but it must be said: BioWare has to be setting some sort of precedent for console DLC, talking about it in detail a whole two months before launch. In any case, Dragon Age II releases March 8th in the US and March 11th in the UK. You can see a pretty awesome teaser trailer below.

I don’t have a problem with post-launch DLC, but this rubs me the wrong way, and I’ve had Dragon Age II pre-ordered for a while now.
Advertising DLC for a game that isn’t even launching for another 3 months just strikes me as wrong. Unless it’s already finished and been through certification, why isn’t this just in the game to start for everyone?
Usually the excuse we get out of publishers, is that early DLC is just what the team works on while their title is going through Microsoft and Sony’s certification processes(the same ones that allowed something like Fallout:New Vegas to actually go on store shelves in its original state).
Usually anyway, unless you’re a studio now owned by a large publisher thats experimenting with new, stupid tricks to raise their pre-order numbers.
