New He-Man Game? THQ and Mattel Agree to Publishing Deal

THQ has a signed a deal that will see it develop games based on some of toy maker Mattel’s most well-known franchises – Hot Wheels, Masters of the Universe and Barbie among them.

The deal, which also includes the Fisher-Price, Polly Pocket and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots brands, is set to last for several years – though no details have been revealed on exactly how long – and covers almost every platform going.

In an investor statement, the publisher said that several unannounced games are already being worked on, and are scheduled for release in time for Christmas 2011. Some of these are expected to support THQ’s uDraw tablet for the Wii, which released in the US just before Christmas and will hit UK shelves this spring.

THQ has already published several titles based on Mattel franchises, most recently Barbie: Groom and Glam Pups and Hot Wheels Track Attack, which were released for Wii and DS in November 2010.
